Outsourcing Insourcing
These past years, outsourcing was the hype/chance/threat (pick one) in IT management. Everything that had to do with running software, programming, testing, even helpdesking was outsourced to the cheapest in the same time-zone, the cheapest in the same language-area, the cheapest with the best quality, or just the cheapest. The advantages are numerous, easy up- and downscaling of capacity, less money, etcetera. And now, KPN has turned it all around.
Instead of oursourcing, they just insourced Getronics as a whole, thereby making it into KPN’s IT department. I admit, in some way it actually *is* outsourcing, in that the whole of KPN’s IT will transfer to Getronics. Wonder if this means a new way of looking at ‘outsourcing’.
